“PEOPLE’S CHOICE” AWARD FOR BEST RIBS

Ribfest Chicago invites you to decide who will win the “People’s Choice” award at the close of the weekend. With 13 restaurants competing for the title, we thought you should know the basics of the “rib crawl” so you can try them all and cast your ballot.

Upon arriving, be sure to pick up your ballot to vote for Northcenter’s Best Ribs at the entrance. Then, let the tasting begin! Rib vendors are offering 3-bone “Samplers” allowing fest visitors the opportunity to taste the BBQ from each restaurant. Ballots should be turned in by 6 PM on Sunday, June 11, at the Northcenter Chamber booth across from CVS on the west side of Lincoln Ave.

Meet our celebrity judges for 2017:

Marsha Brawner and Michele Ranger: Michele, a die-hard Sox fan, is almost always competing with her twin, Marsha, a Cubs fan. The duo is currently
producing a YouTube series of their rivalry through a love of cooking.

Ivan “Jurko” Jurkovic: Jurko played professional football for 10 years as a
defensive tackle and now is a sports talk host on ESPN AM 1000, where the
“Carmen & Jurko” show has been voted one the Top 20 midday shows in America.

Chef Shaun O’Neale: Chef Shaun is the Season 7 Winner of Fox’s MasterChef
and authored the book, My American Table: Recipes for Inspired Home Cooks.

Evan Robinson: The Chicago South-sider is an 11-year-old contestant on the
2017 season of Fox’s MasterChef Junior.

Mike Sula: Mike is the Chicago Reader’s lead restaurant critic. He’s written
about politics, crime, film, and more. His work has been published in Harper’s,
the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, and NPR’s The Salt, Plate, and Eater, and his story about outlaw charcuterie appeared in Best Food Writing 2010. His story “Chicken of the Trees,” about eating city squirrels, won the James Beard Foundation’s 2013 M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award.
